These photographs shows early
News1 images from about 1980. The technology, such as 1 inch high
band recorders, 2 inch Quad recorders and three tube plumbicon
cameras were extremely expensive, with most individually costing over
$50,000 each. Today, in 2020, a basic cell phone has equal or better
capabilities. It shows the rapid advancement of electronic
communication. Of course, 40 years ago, no one dreamed that such a
thing as the internet could exist and that vast amounts of human
knowledge was was at one's finger tips, day and night. It will be
interesting to see how society will be like in the next 40 years.
